How we work

Editorial policy

The standards governing research, first-hand claims, safety language, commercial relationships and corrections.

INDEPENDENCE

Editorial conclusions should be based on usefulness to the rider. Advertising, affiliate commission, free products or other commercial relationships must not buy a favourable conclusion.

EVIDENCE

We distinguish among first-hand use, manufacturer/provider specifications, primary-source travel rules, credible third-party evidence and editorial inference. Where a fact can change—airline baggage rules, road access, pricing, inventory, opening hours or travel requirements—the reader should be directed to verify current information.

TESTING LANGUAGE

Pedal Elsewhere will not use “tested,” “field-tested,” “we rode,” “we stayed,” or equivalent first-hand language unless that experience actually occurred and is documented. Products researched from specifications can still be useful recommendations, but they must be described accurately.

SAFETY

Cycling, mechanical work and travel carry risks. Pedal Elsewhere provides planning information, not professional mechanical, medical or legal certification. Manufacturer instructions, applicable rules and qualified professional advice take precedence where appropriate.

COMMERCIAL RELATIONSHIPS

Affiliate links will be disclosed. A merchant's presence in an affiliate network does not guarantee editorial inclusion. Likewise, lack of an affiliate programme does not automatically exclude a useful option.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

Prices and availability change. Unless a price is explicitly time-stamped and sourced, avoid presenting it as durable fact. Readers should verify final price, tax, shipping, cancellation terms and availability with the provider.

CORRECTIONS

Material factual errors should be corrected promptly. Where a correction meaningfully changes the conclusion of a guide, the guide should be updated rather than silently preserving an obsolete recommendation.

DESTINATION COVERAGE

Routes and destinations are selected for editorial usefulness, not because a tourism board, hotel or operator paid to appear. Sponsored travel, if introduced later, must be disclosed.

AI AND PRODUCTION TOOLS

Pedal Elsewhere may use software and AI tools in research, drafting, editing, design and media production. Their use does not remove the requirement to verify claims, avoid fabricated experience and maintain editorial accountability.

CONTACT

Editorial corrections, partnership enquiries and general contact should be routed through the site's published contact channel once the production domain and mailbox are live.
