The Mallorca-specific decisions to make after you have completed the universal Bike Rental Fit Checklist.

WHY MALLORCA CHANGES THE RENTAL DECISION

Mallorca’s established cycling ecosystem makes rental a credible alternative to flying your own bike, particularly when the holiday includes non-riding time or when avoiding a large case simplifies the airport transfer. The local question is not whether rentals exist; it is whether the reserved bike and collection plan fit the riding week you have designed.

START WITH THE UNIVERSAL CHECKLIST

Before using this page, confirm size, geometry, contact points, model/substitution terms, damage terms and the other universal rental questions in Bike Rental Fit Checklist — What to Confirm Before You Pay. Do not repeat that process here.

1. MATCH GEARING TO YOUR MALLORCA WEEK

If the itinerary is Tramuntana-heavy, confirm gearing for sustained climbing and accumulated fatigue. Do not choose a setup because it resembles a professional bike. Use Road Bike Rental Gearing for Mountain Trips for the full decision framework.

If the trip is mainly flatter inland riding, the gearing requirement may be different. Match the rental to the actual itinerary rather than to Mallorca’s reputation.

2. CHOOSE THE COLLECTION PLAN WITH THE BASE

A rental that is convenient in Palma may not be convenient for a northern base, and vice versa. Before paying, map the collection and return against the accommodation, airport transfer and first/last riding day.

Ask whether delivery/collection is genuinely available for your accommodation and dates; if so, verify the service terms rather than assuming a website reference guarantees it.

3. PROTECT THE FIRST RIDE

Do not collect immediately before Sa Calobra, a long Tramuntana day or a fixed group departure. Leave time to set the position, confirm controls and braking, test shifting and complete a short shakedown.

A small setup issue is easier to fix near the provider than halfway through a mountain day.

4. KNOW THE SUPPORT PLAN

Ask how the provider handles a mechanical problem away from the shop and what replacement process applies if the bicycle cannot be ridden. The practical support model can matter more than a marginal component upgrade.

Do not infer island-wide roadside rescue from generic “support” wording; confirm what is actually included.

5. TYRES AND ROADSIDE KIT

Confirm the tyre setup and the roadside repair equipment supplied. Understand responsibility for punctures, consumables and damage under the rental terms. Carry the equipment and knowledge appropriate to the ride you have planned.

6. RETURN LOGISTICS MATTER

Confirm return location/hours, cleaning expectations and late terms. If returning on departure day, leave enough margin before the airport transfer. A tight flight-day return can erase much of the convenience that made renting attractive.

7. ACCOMMODATION STILL MATTERS

Rental removes the empty bike-case problem, not the need for secure bicycle storage. Confirm the property’s bicycle policy and any security requirements imposed by the rental agreement.

OUR MALLORCA RENTAL SHORTLIST

FIRST QUOTE: BERGANTI BIKES

Berganti is the first rental quote Pedal Elsewhere would obtain for a Mallorca road trip. Its current published fleet includes Orbea Orca road bikes with Shimano Ultegra Di2 and 105 Di2 configurations, alongside other categories. It also currently advertises delivery/collection around Mallorca under its booking conditions, free roadside assistance for customers and GPS route support. Those are useful differentiators for a rider based away from the shop — but every service must still be confirmed for the booking dates and location.

For a Tramuntana-heavy week, ask Berganti for the exact available cassette/chainring combination on the reserved bike. Do not infer climbing suitability from “Orca” or “Ultegra Di2.” Confirm frame size, crank length if fit-sensitive, brake orientation, tyre setup, pedals, saddle policy, delivery window, substitution terms and what roadside assistance actually covers.

SECOND QUOTE: KEEP AN INDEPENDENT ALTERNATIVE

Use Mallorca Bike Hire in Port de Pollença as the first independent comparison against Berganti. Current public information lists road, gravel and e-bike rental, including Scott/Colnago/Orbea options, with fitting at handover and island delivery/collection available. It also advertises optional items such as power pedals and Garmin mounts. That makes it a credible non-affiliate benchmark for the same rider/date/specification request. At publish time, recheck the exact current fleet, minimum hire period, delivery area, fitting/support terms and pricing directly with the operator. Compare the same requested size, dates, gearing and delivery location so no single provider becomes the editorial answer by default. [Editorial comparison only unless a commercial relationship is separately approved.]

WHEN WE WOULD CHOOSE BERGANTI / RENTAL

A 3–5 day riding block inside a broader Mallorca holiday; family/group luggage already fills the transfer; the correct bike can be delivered to the chosen hotel; or the reader values avoiding packing/reassembly more than riding an exact personal setup.

WHEN WE WOULD STILL BRING OUR OWN BIKE

A cycling-first week with demanding descending/climbing; unusually fit-sensitive rider; specific saddle/cockpit/crank setup; known power-meter/training setup that matters to the trip; or when the rental specification cannot be guaranteed in writing.

WHAT TO CARRY WHEN RENTING

Shoes and helmet; preferred pedals if compatible and agreed; fit measurements and setup photographs; computer and compatible mount; essential riding clothing; and, for a particularly fit-sensitive rider, a preferred saddle if the shop confirms installation. Do not travel with unnecessary workshop equipment merely because the bicycle is rented.
